About
In addition to inventing / doodling stupid things on in my notebooks, my main interests are coffee, baking and datatoys.
I know my drawings rarely achieve a state of beauty. Even though, I usually try to post my doodles on Flickr in wallpaper resolution. Wanting one of them on my desktop was why I first photographed my notebook, which kicked off this blog.
If you come over all inspired and end up making any of my inventoids do let me know, I’ll probably want to buy one. Also, if you see something similar for sale somewhere let me know, I’ll probably want to buy one.
Do comment with any additional ideas to extend the inventoids, they really appreciate the attention.
I can be contacted on steve@inventoids.com.
THE IMPORTANCE OF GOOD RESEARCH
When creating inventions good research is vital. When creating inventoids I’m pretty sure it’s entirely optional. I’ll usually ask at least one person if they know of a ‘thingummy’ that’s available before posting it – just in case I’ve Inventoided something that everyone else knows about. I don’t want to look stupid.
If you know of any proper inventions that overlap my inventoids, do comment about them and link them up. I’d probably want to either buy one, or just play inventoid top trumps with it in a ‘Ahhh – but mine has an extra funnel for muesli – they never thought of THAT’ kind of way.
SELF REGARDING NONSENSE
Inventoids has received some nice coverage on some geek sites. Some pointers:
MAKE: blog posted a nice link to the moleskine tabs post: “I might try this idea I bumped into on a new site for “tiny inventions,” called Inventoids. Cut “innie” tabs. I think I’ll try it. You can always use color marker bands on the edges, but I think this looks cooler. It’s an interesting option, anyway”
LIFEHACKER also linked to the moleskine tabs: “he’s cut innie tabs at the first five pages of every section similar to what you see marking new letter sets on dictionaries. The idea isn’t terribly groundbreaking, but if you’re sick of messy tabs sticking out from your notebooks, this might be your solution.“
